Welcome to C7's blog 2012. We are a Year 2 class and our teacher is Mrs Jenny Burnett. This year we will be working hard to reach for the stars. We will try to do the very best we can by using our Glenholme School values of RESPECT, RESPONSIBILTY, PRIDE, and HONESTY. Most of all we will use a GO FOR IT attitude. In C7 not I can't, but I CAN try!
C7 Whizz Kids
Welcome to C7's blog 2012
We welcome parents and extended family to our classroopm. We really appreciate any parent help. So far we have two lovely mums, Kylee and June who are giving up their precious time to help out with reading. Remember the more practice the children get, the more confident they become. Thank you to all you terrific parents who are supporting your children with homework. As a teacher I can see the growth with home reinforcement. Keep up the great work.

Swimming
We have been enjoying our swimming lessons this year. We have been practising floating, kicking and combining our arm actions. We are also learning the importance of survivial skills. most of us can do this very well. We have been using the flutterboards to keep us afloat, then relaxing on our backs by pretending we are lying in bed with our heads back on a pillow. At the end of our swimming time we can dive off the edge of the pool. Tyrece, Aryssa and Cohen are showing great style. There are still lots of 'belly flops' OUCH!! Thank you to Matua Erik for making sure the pool is clean and warm.

Mufti Day
Today we were encouraged to dress up in red and black ( Canterbury colours) to help support the Christchurch eathquake victims. The cause was well supported by the children who all brought along a gold coin donation. Today we read the story of Quacky Cat and had a big discussion about how terrifying the earthquake must have been for people and their pets. We also revisited the earthquake safety procedures.
