Welcome to C7's blog 2012. We are a Year 2 class and our teacher is Mrs Jenny Burnett. This year we will be working hard to reach for the stars. We will try to do the very best we can by using our Glenholme School values of RESPECT, RESPONSIBILTY, PRIDE, and HONESTY. Most of all we will use a GO FOR IT attitude. In C7 not I can't, but I CAN try!
C7 Whizz Kids
Welcome to C7's blog 2012
We welcome parents and extended family to our classroopm. We really appreciate any parent help. So far we have two lovely mums, Kylee and June who are giving up their precious time to help out with reading. Remember the more practice the children get, the more confident they become. Thank you to all you terrific parents who are supporting your children with homework. As a teacher I can see the growth with home reinforcement. Keep up the great work.

Our Irish Dance for the school production.
For the school production our class performed an Irish dance to the music of 'Toss the Feathers' by the Corrs. It was fast and lively. We had lots of fun performing on stage in front of our family and friends. They all supported us so well, they cheered and clapped, they were very loud and proud!! We made a mural about our dance. We added some collage figures of ourselves wearing our costumes. We hope you enjoy the slide show of photos that were taken on the morning and evening of our performance. A huge thank you to June and Kylee who assisted with fitting the costumes and helping the children get dressed. Also to Jacinda for sewing the sashes worn by the boys. You ladies are awesome!

Magnificent Magnolias
We hope you enjoy the spiralling slide show of our magnolia paintings. When Mrs Burnett brought the magnolias to school we looked carefully at them so we could capture the shape, colour and texture of the flowers and branches. We had to hold our paint brushes like a pencil and try to make feathery strokes with the brush. We also had to blend some of the colours for the petals and buds. The flowers were gigantic and the buds were wrapped in a furry case like a sleeping bag. We were very proud of our art work and we have had lots of lovely compliments. We also wrote some good descriptive stories which we published in the computer suite. Here are some of the stories to read together.

Our Spring Garden
Ataarangi's daffodil was the first spring bulb in our garden to open. It had a long narrow green stem. The petals were oval shaped. The flower was a bright sunshine yellow with a frilly trumpet in the centre. Ibanez- Rose was very excited to see her red tulip unfolding its cup shaped petals. When we looked inside the flower we could see the black stamens. They looked like a large bumble bee sitting in the middle of the flower. We also planted some vegetables in pots. We planted snow peas, lettuce, beans, tomatoes and beetroot. We hope they will grow well so that we can sample them before the end of the year.
